Are you in the market for a new John Deere compact utility tractor, or do you regularly use your compact tractor out on the field? Compact utility tractors are the most versatile landscape tools out there. How can you make them even more versatile and useful? Let’s take a look at four different rear implements for blading, scraping, and leveling. We’ll be focusing specifically on rear implements for the John Deere 2038R model, but all rear implements are available in a range of sizes for use and attachment on different compact utility tractor models.
Box Blade
Box blades have the most utilitarian value among the rear implements available for your tractor. The box blade has a rear blade and a front blade so it can drive backwards and forwards to control material. It also has scarifier teeth that can be raised or lowered, and can dig into the earth to chew up and re-fluff tightly-packed gravel. An incredibly versatile rear implement, box blades can also be used to refill holes.
Landscape Rake
A landscape rake is another very versatile rear implement that rakes up debris such as bigger sticks, twigs, and rocks. It’s great, too, for spreading topsoil or preparing soil for planting and seeding. The John Deere landscape rake attachments are angularly designed to help operators pull or push in different directions, moving debris with accuracy, precision, and ease.
Rear Blade
Simple in design, the rear blade moves left or right, moving gravel or other light material to exactly where you need it. This implement is great for tasks such as making driveways or grading, and can also be used to help move snow and light material. If you loosen the bolts, you can clear out the material in a ditch bank.
Land Plane
Land planes are made of two angular blades designed to move material. Land planes work especially well on gravel driveways. Land planes are not quite as utilitarian as a box blade, which fills holes really well, but works exceptionally well for many tasks, such as maintaining a gravel road or driveway, smoothing a horse arena, or leveling a garden, to name a few.
All of these attachments come with tube holders for manuals and tools, and can be attached to your utility tractor manually or using the iMatch Quick Hitch (learn more about the benefits of the iMatch on our blog!).
