Standard 4WD and power steering make 1 Family Tractors excellent for mowing
Both 4WD and power steering are standard equipment on the 1 Family Tractors. This combination allows for excellent maneuverability and ease of operation.
Narrow overall width allows you to work in tight areas where most compact tractors just cannot fit. The 144.8-cm (57-in.) wheel base and 119.4 cm (47 in.) overall width gives great stability for all types of terrain.
Power steering means fewer turns of the steering wheel than manual steering, which is especially valuable when mowing around obstacles or during front loader work.
High horsepower-to-weight ratio makes the 1 Family Tractors a good choice for a variety of tasks. The overall tractor weight reduces ground compaction and makes them excellent for mowing.
The fully-independent power take-off (PTO) allows engaging and disengaging of the PTO without stopping tractor movement. This is important when driving across obstacles such as driveways while mowing.
The 1025R open operator station is designed for greater comfort and increased visibility.
Comfortable operation
Thick, textured rubber floor mat reduces vibrations and absorbs shock and noise
Step-through flat platform and fender-mounted handrails make it easy to get on and off the tractor from either side
Controls are conveniently located next to the fenders and are color-coded for quick identification
Tilt steering lets you keep your arms in a natural position to reduce fatigue
Deluxe suspension seat has moveable armrests and provides great back support
Easy access toolbox puts common tools within quick reach
Standard 12-V outlet for convenient charging of electronics
Easy-lift hood with dual gas-charged lift struts as standard equipment. A simple flip of the latch lets you open the rugged composite hood, providing wide open access to the engine compartment.
Foldable rollover protective structure (ROPS) keeps you protected during operation and improve the ability to store tractor in a garage
Foldable Roll-Gard ROPS
Foldable Roll-Gard™ ROPS is standard equipment on 1025R
Increased visibility
Standard (and optional) lighting shown
Sloping hood design provides improved visibility especially during front loader work
Standard lighting equipment allows you to work from early in the morning to late at night:
Two front-mounted sealed-beam halogen headlights
Two amber-flashing warning/hazard lights mounted on the side of the ROPS with reflectors
Two additional fender lights are standard on the 1025R
Additional front- and rear-light kits are available
The John Deere 1R cab is about comfort, security, and helping you get year-round performance. The cab offers protection from the elements to expand the versatility of 1025R Tractors to perform in all climates.
Sound damping system for quiet, peace-of-mind operation
Heated cab keeps you warm in colder months
Removable doors and front and rear windows that open nearly 90 degrees provide a cooler work environment in warmer months.
Excellent visibility to your surroundings with the full glass doors
Compatible with all tractor implements except the 260B Backhoe
1 Family Tractors are designed to minimize the time and effort needed to switch-out implements to accommodate different jobs.
AutoConnect Deck System: Connect a mid-mount mower deck to the tractor in less than 60 seconds without leaving the seat except to lock the gauge wheels.
Load-N-Go attachment: Easily move your 54D or 60D Autoconnect Deck with your John Deere Loader after it has been disconnected from the tractor with the Load-N-Go ramps.
Quik-Park™ Loader System: 120R Quik-Park™ Loaders are designed for easy mounting and removal in about a minute, with no tools needed.
Quik-Tatch™ front hitch: Save time switching front implements like a snow blower, rotary broom, or front blade without tools.
iMatch™ quick-hitch: Easily hookup Category 1 implements in seconds using three fixed points to back in and pick up rear implements without leaving the seat
Position control hitch: Set the rear hitch height and then consistently lower the hitch to the exact height every time, which is especially useful in grading and leveling applications.
Quik-Knect™ system: Connect power take-off (PTO)-driven implements quickly and with low physical effort. The Quik-Knect system utilizes one connector for the tractor’s PTO shaft and a designated connector for each implement which eliminates twisting and forcing splines to align.
1 Family Tractors can have up to three implements mounted simultaneously due to standard dual selective control valves (SCVs), allowing you to switch from using one implement to another without stopping to adjust. When a third SCV kit is added, the number of possible combinations is greatly increased.
The standard mechanical mower lift system moves the mower in conjunction with the rear implements and comes factory-installed on 1 Family Tractors.
Optional hydraulic mower lift
The optional hydraulic mower lift system allows the mower to be raised and lowered independently of the rear implements. It uses the loader joystick to lift and lower the mower deck.
Optional independent hydraulic mower lift
The optional independent hydraulic lift system allows the mower to be raised and lowered independently of the rear and front implements. It operates using a rocker switch mounted on the tractor, located at the operator’s left knee.
For more information on this mid mower lift system click here.

Questionable durability
2/5
I bought this tractor used with very low hours on it. At 150 hours the engine needed to be replaced. At 350 hours the mower deck/3 point lift control had to be replaced. I like the tractor but am constantly concerned about the product life expectancy. I do think I'll sell and buy a different brand. I've always heard that the green paint is very expensive and I've had two lessons so far.

jOHN dEERE 1025r SUB cOMPACT
5/5
I have owned many small lawn tractors over the years and all John Deere. I was in the market recently shopping for a new 2020 sub compact tractor between Kubota BX series and JD 1025R with a BH / FL / MM, after a long period of time and research comparing product vs price I decided to go with the JD 1025R which was slightly higher than Kubota, but what won me over was all the easy off & on quick disconnect attachments plus. I have to commend John Deere that the 1025R 1st family series so far has exceeded my expectations using the multi attachments from mowing / digging mid size tree stumps / and using the front loader to move mountains of dirt..

5/5
I bought a 2017 1025r a few years ago I use mine with jd loader and 60 D mower deck. And a snow blower on the the 3 point in the winter. Mine has a factory cab nice in the winter it’s hot in the summer if you leave the doors on. I wish they had air conditioning option. It does what ever in need around the acreage. The best part is how easy to change from loader to mower deck. I can do it in about ten minutes if everything goes together like it supposed to. No tools ether and the drive over deck cool idea. The only draw back is the quick tach bucket only fits John Deere. No skid loader buckets or other tools fit with out buying after market quick tach system. Other wise very nice yard tractor.

Our 1025R is a great work horse with plenty of power
5/5
We bought our 1025r to mow the 4 acres of rough grass which it handles with ease. We used the front loader to plow, push and lift lot's of snow this past winter and she never hesitated lifting or pushing even up a 3 degree grade. The back hoe may be small but it works just like the big ones and is very good at digging up tree roots and digging holes.
Frankly, 90% of the use on our 1025r has been removing tree roots, and clearing out saplings and small trees up to 6" diameters.
We've leveled and graded our grounds and moved 15 tons of decorative marble stone chips without any issues.
Bottom line, we love our John Deere 1025r

This little tractor is deceiving, as it is really powerful and super easy to maneuver.
We purchased the loader and mower deck, and added some lights. We debated a while if we needed a 4 wheel drive vs just a mower. Really glad we went this route. More then enough power for this machine.

I have 50 hrs on my 1025 with a front end loader and ballast box. I use it to clear heavy snow from my steep 150 ft driveway. It performs flawlessly so far. Great capacity on the loader lifting heavy snow for hrs. the ergonomics/controls are the best including the lights which give great field of vision at nite. These may seem like little things but believe me they are not.. The engine is more powerful than I anticipated even when pushed to the limits. fires up fast even in cold weather. A workhorse
5/5
I bought my 1025R in March of 2016 with a H120 loader, a 5' rear blade, and have since added the quick change pallet forks (not the clamp on type). I have only .75 acre but care for my home myself. Having had 2 back operations and 2 titanium slugs placed on the upper and lower spine, I needed to avoid lifting, stooping down, twisting, and generally stressing the back which is the sole purpose for buying the machine. I have 34 hours on the machine now without a single problem. Trimming shrubbery standing up and placing them in the loader bucket or on the pallet forks at waste height is a blessing. I used it to dig irrigation pipe ditch and cover it back up. I carry trimmings to a yard waste and simply raise the bucket and dump it. No bins, no cutting to length, no raking, no shoveling. My back loves it. Lifted and installed a gun safe with no problem. Carried concrete pavers, loaded and unloaded pine bark mulch. Great machine. I should have gone one size bigger but the 1025R is a great machine.

5/5
Purchased this for 5 acres of mowing and has done a great job, only complaint is where the rear lights are mounted. Mowing along a hedgerow the lights sometimes get hung up on a branch or shrubs and has broken away from ROV bar. Have them wired tied now to bar. Bucket has been an awesome attachment for moving stone, mulch and even snow. Have a blade that attaches to rear (given to me by my brother) that I also use for plowing snow. All in all, I Love my John Deere 1025R. Before I purchased it my brother said," a tractor payment is better then a car payment." I agree.

Very good, thought out designed tractor.
5/5
I picked up my 1025r on October 27th 2015 and have put on twenty two hours so far. It's been a great tractor on my 4.6 acres of land. I was able to get the Frontier York rake with the 0% down promotion for free. I have the H120 loader as well. I was able to find the rest of my attachments (60" finish mower, 60" three point blade, and a set of quick attach forks) for under $1000.00. Why buy new implements when you can find good used stuff for a lot less and save money. These implements make this great Deere tractor more versatile.
The tractor is good on fuel, and very comfortable. I'm 6'2" and can ride hours in great comfort. It's easy to run, and simple to service.
Only trouble I had was a small hydraulic leak on one of the female couplings from the tractor to the loader(dealer fixed right off) and a very small coolant leak which I fixed my self by tighning a clamp.
I highly recommend this tractor over any other brand and I did my research.

1025r Working beast
5/5
I have run my 1025r for 55 hours since Jan 2015. I bought 54 inch snow thrower, 60 inch mmm, FEL, backhoe, and weight box. Non-JD clamp on forks and subsoiler too. I have 6 acres, 2 lawn, 4 woods. I down sized from a larger 36 hp tractor and consolidated 3 machines. The snow blower was timely with record snow in Boston. It went through more than 2' no problem. 11 hrs blowing in half time as before. I put in 15 hrs mowing, half time as before. I moved 20 trees of brush with forks. Moved 50 tree lengths 8-12' with forks. I pulled 1-3000 lb logs with cable out of swamp. I moved yards of manure, graded, subsoiled 25'x50' garden. I used forks and long pallet to lift material to barn loft. I dug up 6 stumps 12-20" diameter and planted 12 trees and bushes. I pulled 6 cords firewood up ice and snow path, uphill 300' to house all winter, no problem. Implement change is a breeze. Think this is not enough machine? Think again.

This tractor does more than manufacturer suggest's. Plenty of power , traction , lifting capacity and easy to get on and off. One magor suggestion , if you purchase this tractor with a loader it should be seriously recommended to by the ballast tree point box for better stability and lower's roll over potential by at least 75%. The purchase of our 1025R was the best choice for our use. With the addition of the 60D deck, mowing is done in a fraction of the time it required previously. To go cut firewood, merely drive off the deck, hook up a trailer, and head to the woods. John Deere has raised the bar again! Thanks John Deere!

Tractor runs pretty good. Starts in cold Michigan winter
4/5
Two improvement that need to be made, on the tractor itself and one on the mower deck. The roll bar in the up postion should go through a seven foot garage door. It's currently about 3 inches to high. The mower deck needs to have the center wheel like my F930 does. I bought this tractor as a way to replace my F930 and a smaller tractor that has a snow blower. My F930 mows three times better than this new one. I also bought the snowblower, forks and front lend oader. Those all work very well. The lights work OK for general use but are very poor for snowblowing at night. I had added two LED lights higher up that work very well.

OVERALL A GREAT TRACTOR
5/5
I bought the 1025R with the 47" JD tiller, 48" snowblower, and the 60" drive over deck. When you do it just right, the drive over deck is great to have for cleaning and sharpening. Mows great. I used the snowblower (front mount) last winter and it was fun to go bail out the neighbors too. I bought a soft cab to add on from Green Dealer. Nice for the price. The rototiller is super and I have used it for my 1/4 acre garden for two years now. Excellent all around except for one minor issue. I weigh 240 and the seat does bottom out at times when mowing rough terrain. A little more support could be there. Other than that I love running it 130 hrs now.

A combination of two tractors
4/5
I was very pleased with the power of the 1025 when I first got it. I traded in my IH 1066 and was replacing my Cub Cadet with an in between tractor for my small acreage. After using the tractor for the first three months, I noticed the hydraulics were sagging/weeping when parked or driving. No fluid was leaking, but I needed to keep raising the deck or the bucket when driving. I returned the tractor to the dealer to have this checked and was told that this normal and within spec. My twenty year old Cub wouldn't do that. Also when driving the tractor on uneven surfaces, the linkage for the deck rubs the rear wheels. This causes the Auto-Connect Deck to come unhooked when maneuvering. This was fixed by putting a pin in the manual deck release to prevent it from unhooking. But this doesn't prevent grooves from being wore into the rear tires. Other than those issues the tractor is very nice to drive and steer and the fast action in the hydraulics.

Perfect for the home or small farm
5/5
We purchased this tractor for our 12 acre farm. We use the front loader, the mower and a auger attachment. In the short time we've owned the 1025r we have erected a fence around 2 acres, mowed grass, moved dirt, leveled our driveway and completed many other small jobs around the house and farm that would have taken forever without the tractor. I don't know how we ever made it before buying this tractor.

My 1025R replaced a Cub Cadet garden tractor. The implements available on the 1025R make many tasks easy to handle. The Cub could only mow the grass. The 1025R mows, plows snow, plows and tills the garden, lifts the heavy loads with the loader, and many more other tasks. The 1025 is also rather fuel efficient Best tool in my garage.

Yes I had many of the same issues that I read about before my purchase, rough smoky engine on cold start not near as bad with 100 hours on it. The drive over auto connect MMM hardware fell apart, John Deere a simple lock nut made the difference! The PTO/RIO that many complain about, leave it alone. I credit that with saving my grandson's feet as he ran up behind me with out warning. It is no different then raising a bucket or plow as you back up. I have a FEL, MMM, Snow plow and Leaf collection system. This tractor has done all I have asked of it and I am amazed at what this small tractor can do. I would highly suggest this tractor to anyone.

very handy tractor, love it.
5/5
I love the fuel filler location, no lifting fuel can up over hood, to me one of my main reasons for buying the 1025 over bigger JD models and other brands. Not everyone has a fuel pump, they, like me use fuel cans. Try lifting 6 gallons over the hood. Get the I-Hitch, best thing ever. Also the quick attach implements for the front end loader, very sweet. I would like a horn. Also, it needs stiffer seat springs as they bottom out on a sudden bump and sends a jolt up your spine. They must be rated for 130 to 160 lb's which isn't enough. The springs need to be rated for 200 to 240 for us older, slightly overweight, retired people. Maybe just a little bigger pump for the hydraulics to help the minor floppy bucket dump. I know this is nic-picking, but honestly I love this tractor. If it went missing tonight, I would be at the dealer the next morning replacing it. It's that good!

Commercial is deceiving
4/5
The hands free drive away from the mower deck feature is not quite as advertised. You still must dismount to release the deck wheels (4 in my case) to allow the deck to completely lower to the ground. When reinstalling the mower deck from cleaning, my power take off to the driveshaft has yet to align. I must get off and physically hold the driveshaft to the coupler on the decking to the proper alignment in order to receive the driveshaft. They didnt show that part in the commercial! This is why I rate it average ease of use. But when its all back together and mowing, I love this tractor. It uses less fuel (diesel) than my previous garden tractor did on gasoline.

has good power but is a bit loud when mowing , great fuel mileage and mower deck is well engineered , grass doesn't clump coming out of chute. very comfortable seat we mow about 7 acres and u can cut at high speeds. a little hard to get off the tractor but easy getting on . The roll bar gets in the way at times. Can't what to get more attachments .

Good product. Excellent on fuel. I love GREEN.
4/5
My 1025R is a good tractor. I previously owned a BX2200 Kubota and the John Deere is much more comfortable and easier to use. It also has a lot more features than the Kubota. The only problem which I have with the 1025R is the continual "fogging" of the instrument cluster after each use. There are white streaks under the glass which only appear when the tractor is hot and been used for a couple of hours. They disappear when the unit cools down. The unit has been replaced twice by James River Equipment, Wilkesboro, NC. I checked with the service dept. there recently and was told that John Deere knew of the problem and was working on a fix. It must be a defective engineered part from the supplier. Anticipate a reliable fix soon.

Flimsy, poorly made and not easy
1/5
I bought a new tractor thinking it would require less fixing than an old tractor. Instead, I spent thousands of dollars (and lots of time) in the first two years repairing pieces that broke or popped off without any reason -- on a NEW tractor that cost me $20,000. The whole thing rattles around and the small wheels make it a bumpy ride in the field. (I am used to the big old tires of an old tractor I used to use.) The other reason I bought this model is because it was supposed to be easy to remove and put on the lawn deck. It is not easy at all. In fact, this year I opted to mow my lawn with the brush hog still on because it is such a hassle to remove and put on the brush hog. I should have just bought a lawn mower for a fraction of the cost and kept my old tractor.

Lots of power for the size.
4/5
I always wanted a 4 wd tractor with a front end loader and after researching the prices and features of 3 other brands I decided on John Deere. The tractor has plentty of power to do anything you would want to do with one this size. My only complaint: one of the main reasons I bought this tractor was the drive over deck that automatically connects. Well I've owned this tractor for over a year now and the deck has only hooked itself up 3 times. The other times I've had to get off the tractor and yank the deck around to get it to lock up like it's supposed to. Other than that its a great tractor.

Pricey but worth it!
4/5
While the John Deere 1 series tractors are priced above their competition I feel they are worth it! I replaced a 7 year old 25hp garden tractor that I bought at one of the box stores with my 1025r. I bought the 60" deck, the 54" blower, and the H120 loader for mine. I mow the yard in 1/2 the time using 1/2 the fuel, did not have snow piles to deal with in the spring, and the only time I remove the loader is to mow. There is always something that I want/need to do. Quite honestly not sure how I got by without it for so long!

The 1025R is the right size for performing work on two acres.
5/5
I bought the tractor to mow the lawn, pick-up an move materials and clear snow. The attachments are easy to remove and install; almost effortless. I have cut and moved soil using the additional rock teeth on the loader bucket. Moving snow and ice last winter was a breeze. The tractor had no trouble starting at 10 degrees (F) above 0 without a heater. This summer I cut trails in about 2 acres of my property and my neighbor's woods. The tractor performed as expected with the given power available.

One tough machine
5/5
Have put 90 hrs on the tractor. Estimate about 60 hrs with the FEL, 25 with the backhoe and 5 with the snow blower. Dirt being dug is glacial moraine with a lot of rocks, gravel and clay in it. Tractor has performed very well digging up around a full basement for waterproofing work. It is power limited but that is to be expected with a unit this size. It will dig up and move some very large rocks but requires some time to do it. I like the separate forward and reverse pedals. Both the high/low range lever and 2wd/4wd levers are easy to use. The parking brake and cruse controls are a little too close together and similar in feel so can be confusing. This is a minor frustration. The quick release FEL is easy to remove. The snow blower takes about 20 minutes to install (by a novice). Only issue with the snow blower is that if the backhoe is left on, there is not enough weight on the front wheels to steer. Plan to remove it this winter and just add a smaller counter weight.

3/5
Overall the tractor is built fairly solid. There are some issues with excessive mower bounce when driving over rough terrain. The cut quality is not as good as my X585 that I had but for a bigger tractor it isn't bad. I really like the ease of the quick connect mower deck and other attachments.
Overall, it is a good value and I really like the assortment of attachments available.

Overall this is a good product
4/5
I have a front end loader and 4 foot tiller and the 1025R handles both with ease, plenty of power and traction with the 4 wheel drive. The turning radius on this tractor is great which helps when using the loader and tiller. As I said above this is a good tractor and could be a great tractor if there were a few improvements made, especially to the mower deck. The mower deck does not float over the yard like other mowers. If John Deere would make a design change to make the deck float instead of just hanging it from the belly of the tractor this would be a great tractor / mower not just a great tractor. The main reason I purchased this was for the drive over deck which is good but not as easy as the commercial leads you to believe.

A lemon from the start
2/5
This was a lemon from the start. Started with what I thought was hydraulic oil leakage. Turned out to be the radiator hoses weren't properly tightened. it was antifreeze solution dripping from the power steering.
Then the throttle wouldn't stay. Mechanic finally replaced all the washers. Two washers had been left out by the factory.
Then the fuel shut off. The fuel solenoid went bad.
Then an oil leak developed. Thought it was from the oil filter and went through all sorts of ways to ensure it was tight, etc. Turned out to be an oil leak on the back side of the injector.
The factory left off the strap holding the air cleaner housing in place.
This thing is a Yanmar mistake in not getting the emissions down and therefore having to run a ridiculously high idle speed of 1,650 rpm. The engine was never a smooth one either, always rough. Kubota can get their idle speeds down to 1,000, and the idle speed on my 2025R is 1,300, a lot more civilzed (and smooth).
It idled at about the running speed of my Isuzu whole house diesel generator and uses about 3 times the fuel usage of the Isuzu.
Nice toolkit that the sales person moved to my 2025. Nice cup holders vs. the useless one on the 2025 (I've used the top of the document holder as a cupholder, mounted onto the right FEL tower).
The Kubota B2301 has the nice features of the 1025 but outdoes the 2025 on power issues of FEL and 3ph lift. Would have gone for the Kubota but for additional hassle of doing so.

What a workhorse for the hobby farmer!!
5/5
I absolutely love my tractor. I am a single female living on 5 acres and this tractor is comfortable for me to use. The operation and changing of attachments is easy for me to do alone. It is big enough to do the work I need and small enough/easy operation to not be intimidating. It is kind of like a riding mower on steroids!!
I tell people jokingly," it's my baby" and have affectionately named it "The Hulk"!!
I am looking forward to many years of "play time" on my "baby" doing projects on my land.
The only con #and it's a very very small one# I have come across was I had to charge the dead battery #user error# and due to where the tractor was in relation to power I had to remove the battery. I had to remove a head light to get the battery out. It was only 2 screws to remove the headlight but I was a little nervous feeling like I was dismantling my tractor......So far that's my only con....I said it was a small one!

I purchased this unit for my retired father as a Father's Day gift last year, I'm not sure he has ever gotten off of it since! We got the front loader and big mower deck for him and it has cut his mowing time in half! He maintains just a little less than 10 acres and the unit has all the power he needs to get the job done, the only downfall is that the dealer never loaded the tires for full use of the loader, but we just keep the brush hog hooked up when using it for gravel and sand and it works just fine!

Big Bang for the Buck
5/5
Keeping up small acreage with trees there is always a need for a tractor and I have some specific projects to do that will each take several days. It is extremely time consuming, inconvenient and expensive going back and forth to the rental yard over the course of several weekends so decided to buy a John Deere 1025R with the fork lift attachment and brush hog. I found the size of this tractor to be just what I needed. For digging tree stumps a bigger tractor would be nice but don't let the size of this one fool you. It might take a little longer to do it but it gets the job done. It isn't a toy. I did some shopping and the comparable Kubota BX25 looked good but I try to buy American when I can and to me the John Deere was also the better value with more features for the same money. I had the tractor less than a week when a strong wind broke the top trunk from an oak tree onto my driveway. After a few cuts with the chain saw and using the fork attachment I had everything hauled to the burn pile in less than an hour without breaking a sweat. With ownership I'm able to do my dirt work with the bucket and backhoe at my leisure. I had been cutting my field with an older Kubota B7100 but if the grass got tall it was often too much for the 17HP engine forcing me to take smaller cuts. The 25HP John Deere handles it with ease. The power steering on this tractor is is great and I don't have to hold the steering wheel as tightly on rough ground as I did on the old Kubota. After a little practice it is easy to R&R the backhoe to make the 3point hitch accessible for the brush hog or other attachments. I never thought I would get much use from the standard fender mount auxiliary lights but they sure made it nice when I've mowed at night. The standard tool box is handy for storing the pins I'm not using, hammer, pliers, etc. Not that I want to sell but I noticed these little tractors have good resell value too.

3/5
Had one the first 2200's and loved it. The 1025R makes switching implement MUCH EASIER, but the over all quality (plastic hoods, lighter gauge metals, etc. have led to more failures.
The one thing that John Deere could improve is the position of the back lights. Both the 2200 and 1025R lights have broken when mowing around a tree on an incline.

Great value
5/5
I grew up on a farm JD4020, JD4010, G this little tractor has big tractor features in a small package while it is powerful and so easy to use. It does a great job mowing my yard, The Loader is powerful. The Backhoe not as much but still worth it. Dropping off the Loader is easy and fast the Backhoe is a little tricky but not that bad. Getting the black hose to connect for the Deck lift is a pain. The Deck lift drifts down very quickly so you have to lock it up when not mowing. The drive over connect Deck is very nice but its not all automatic as advertized. You still have to lay on the ground to connect and disconnect the PTO with the Backhoe in place that is a real pain. I have as much fun on this JD as I do my Harley. I'm glad I didn't go cheap.

A lot of Tractor for the small size
5/5
A value for the size and capability of the tractor. And that's what it is... It's mobile but tough. I have the full set up, 1025R FILB with 54 inch mower bed. It's a bit much for a mower, but still does the job. Great fuel hours, 5 gallon tank may not seem like much, but it serves it's purpose. depending on what you're doing, 5 hours on this may leave you sore, the seat it a bit awkward, but is much better that s standard seat they sell on others.
I have 4.5 acres here in southern Maryland, lots of heavy clay soil and many trees, opened up the yard by 3/4 of an acre to total almost 2 acres. soil leveling, stump removal, tree pulling and creating paths with it. It's easy to run, my 13 year old does well mowing the lawn. I have just over 40 hours on it in 2.5 months.
It takes a little practice with the attachments, definitely use level ground for parking the backhoe, it's tends to be tricky when not level.
Buy the brush guards for the blinkers on the roll bar, one tree limb took out on side of ours, put the brush guards on and no more issues. Consider your tires wisely, I heave the heavy tread, if your have a soft lawn, get the lawn tires and you wont chew up your lawn.
Mower bed hook up is a pain at times, again, on a level surface it's not bad...
Two things have broken so far, Blinkers mentioned above and the 260 Backhoe just blew a hydraulic line while pulling a stump. Great dealership honored the warranty with a fast replacement.
I'm a first time tractor owner, I have many tools, but there are specific things I recommend you not leave the dealers with, Engine Oil, it's a diesel! JD Hydraulic fluid, connections leak every time you disconnect, or if like mine you blow a line, all accessories operate from the same take. Grease and grease gun, I have a separate two care garage for my stuff, but you will leave the backhoe and loader outside at some point, and they need to be greased every so often. Read the book and watch the videos...
Have fun too! Go JD!

Nice tractor, some concerns, especially auto connect
4/5
This is a very nice tractor to run. Good controls, easy to operate. Have a backhoe, loader, mower, and snowblower. Great ride, much better than my X724. Two problems: the steering rod cuts out the grease boot on the left side. Looks like the rod will eventually cut away. Been over a year and still no permanent fix from Deere. Their solution is to put a magnet on the assembly to keep from turning too short. That didn't last long. Worse though is the auto connect. A little over a hundred hours on the deck and the auto connect assembly had worn the hanger brackets and rod almost in two. After the warranty expires, probably will take that off and go back to the regular shaft connection. It does a great job of mowing, though.

Should have purchased this years ago!
5/5
Absolutely great! I was not certain it would be able to move riprap stone to the pond, but it handled it with no problem. Wish I would have purchased the backhoe instead of the mower deck. I have too many trees and tight turns and really need to maintain my zero turn mower which does a better, faster job on the lawn. Would be great on large, open lawns. I'll pick up the backhoe later, I'm sure.
About the only complaint is that I have a hard time disconnecting the hydraulics without leaving pressure in the line. This makes it hard to connect the next time.

Great versatility
5/5
Simply put, next to the purchase of our property, buying our 1025r was the best thing we have ever done! It has made the maintenance of our 20 acres a snap. It is so simple to operate. My wife actually looks forward to cutting the fields: mind you this was a person who wouldn’t even operate a riding mower previous.
Simple to operate, simple to maintain! Cannot ask for more. Wanna drop the mowing deck? Well if you can turn a knob and work the forward/reverse pedals… it is done! The front-end loader can be removed just as easily. I’m looking forward to eventually getting the backhoe attachment.
Our 1025r has operated trouble-free for two years. Dealership has always been responsive. A great range of attachments are available. If I could get one wish granted, I would love to be able to get grappling type loader that could pick up brush piles. Other than that, there are absolutely no complaints from me.

I bought this unit with a 60" mower deck and a 54" angling blade. It mows excellent and cut my mowing time more than in half. The first project for the blade was spreading out 2 dump truck loads of 3" rock in my driveway. I put it in 4 wheel drive and it spread and leveled my rock easily. I am more than happy with this little tractor. I can't wait to see what it will do this winter to keep snow removed and pushed back with the blade. I had two minor issues at first (hydraulic oil line fitting and o-ring bad and light switch bad) but am very impressed with my dealer because they wasted no time in resolving these issues!!!!!!!!! Overall I would say that I am very happy with the performance of this tractor. I have the auto-disconnect deck which makes removing the deck very easy. I also purchased the snow blower attachment which is awesome. Went through drifts 4'+ no problem, plenty of power. The only complaints I have are that the hood and the side panels don't line up and it appears as if the side panel is bulging out. Also, all the literature shows a air filter restrictor gauge on the 1025R but mine never had one. I have had the unit 3 years and had only one problem that was remedied quickly.

While you can always use something a little larger, this tractor really fits my property perfectly
5/5
I was torn between this and the 2032R, from a cost perspective I was really happy with the 1025r but I wasn't sure about the power and traction of the 1025r. After having it for a couple months now, I have no reason to regret the smaller 1025r. It has done everything I wanted and has quite a bit more power and traction than I expected.
I pull a 60" box blade with no issue (except when hitting roots), even when full.
Another great thing about the 1025, it fits everywhere on my property, some places it's a really tight fit but it goes. Any larger at all and I wouldn't be permitted into the tighter spots.
I bought the backhoe at the same time, with a mower. I've used the backhoe a lot and will continue to do so but the mower aspect is really coming into play. As mentioned before, the size allows it to fit everywhere but the power allows me to do any job I would need (5 acres of heavily wooded ground that I'm clearing a bit to make more yard). As I knock down the large chores and use it more for mowing, I "feel" better about the size.
Switching between applications/tools is a breeze, the mower deck is awesome in this respect, just drive over, done.
The backhoe goes on and off very quickly and easily.
The frontend loader, same thing, cake.
The only thing I haven't bought yet is a york rake, but since the box blade is handled without any issue at all, I have no reason to think the tractor won't breeze through this work as well.
I've done the 50 hour hyrdo fluid change myself and it was also an easy chore.
The controls are all well placed (for me) and so far (about 70 hours) it still looks and operates like new (this isn't long but I have used it hard, I also live on the side of a mountain).

This tractor can do anything
5/5
This tractor is versatile and reliable beyond belief. I've mowed miles of grass, dug trenches, moved gravel, removed stumps, plowed snow, and the list goes on and on. Don't be fooled by it's size. This baby has all the power you need for residential work. The 4 wheel drive is key when you need it to really dig deep for pulling or pushing. With the loader, mower deck, and backhoe attachments, I believe this tractor and I can accomplish anything. One of the greatest pieces of equipment I've ever purchased. I couldn't be happier.

Amazing machine
5/5
I am going on my second year with the 1025R with loader and backhoe and I can say though the price is up there near what a new car costs, it is by far one of the best purchases I have made. The ease of use and quality of every component on it is first class. The tractor has been flawless in the 2 years and 120 hours I have run it. The quality of the cut for mowing is superb and I thought maybe being a larger tractor for a 2 acre lot it would be cumbersome but quite the opposite. I can trim around trees with ease with the 60 inch deck. Between the power of the diesel engine and power steering, mowing and any chores are extremely enjoyable. I use the quick hitch and plow for keeping the driveway clear in the winter. It hasn't mattered if its 2 inches or 12 inches of harsh Minnesota winter snows the tractor doesn't even slow down. It has made so many of the yard chores an absolute pleasure to do now. The backhoe though small in size is perfect for those projects around the homestead, from planting trees to trenching power and water to my shop, it has been a huge asset in getting projects completed. It connects and disconnects from the tractor in less then 2 minutes and I am back to mowing configuration. The loader is probably the most fun and easiest to connect. Within a few seconds I can have it on and moving items from the yard and back to mowing with ease. I hope to get many years of work from this tractor, and it always looks good doing it.

Seems pretty durable so far. Mower works good although the easy connect does take a little getting used to. Loader is very handy and handles a full load of dirt. Tiller is great.

I mow around a lot of trees and schrubs. To keep from destroying the flashing caution lights while working in close to low hanging limbs and schrubs, I moved the lights to the inside of the roll bar.
All other features are working well. Excellent tractor.

Front loader bucket needs to tilt back 2 inches more. Backhoe control does not allow for 2 axis moment at once! This is the biggest problem this machine has very hard to have good control of your bucket. Front loader same issue but does not matter as much due to its function.

The 1025R is a great equipment asset and preforms very hard work.
5/5
I have bought seven attachments (Loader, Belly Mover, Rake, Roto-Tiller, Rear Receiver, and Post Hole Digger w/12" Auger. I fabricated a Front Receiver (sent Fabrication Drawings to John Deere Engineering; but, have had no comments back) and a set of Front Forks). I have not yet used the Tiller or Post Hole Digger; but, everything else works fine. Impressed overall, very happy with the Equipment and Seller/Dealer.

More uses than you can imagine.
5/5
We bought this tractor as a pasture mower and cleanup aid (with the loader bucket) around our small 7 acre farm. We soon added pallet forks and a ballast box, and find some chore to use it on almost daily. The ballast box was not purchased with idea of overloading the tractor, but it does stabilize any load you're lifting with the loader or forks.
The ease of attachment/detachment of the loader and mower deck is amazing. Also, the size of the tractor allows great maneuverability even inside our 40 X 60 barn and shop.

Love, LOVE, L-O-V-E this tractor

For a small acreage operation, this thing is a great tool. Got the backhoe, tiller, and blade. Does everything I need. Easy to learn to operate, hook up attachments, and PTO does the job.
My only complaint is the front bucket joy stick is so tall, it gets hooked on my shorts when I climb off the tractor.

Day three
5/5
I strongly recommend this machine for any disabled Operating Engineers out there. Granted it looks like a lawn mower on steroids with just the belly mower. The fact is with just the belly mower, it IS a riding mower on steroids. Mine has a loader and a backhoe. this machine is put together very much like a normal piece of heavy equipment. The hoe and the loader are as strong as I hoped they would be. Much more than I expected. I think every man who has the space to use one should have one. Also there are grease fittings all over the machine and attachments so it should be a long lasting machine.

Lots of pros, but a few big cons
3/5
In general, this is a nice tractor, and some of the features are amazing. But there are a few big issues for me, and reading around online I don't think they are unique to me at all.
Pros:
The drive over/auto connect deck works well and is way easier than manually taking a deck on and off.
The quick connect loader also works very well. I can have the loader on and off in a few minutes, which makes it much easier to use when I need it.
It's more than capable of working such as material moving, snow removal etc.
Cons:
The cons generally have to do with cutting grass.
IMO, the deck was never set up properly. I contacted JD and the dealer and never received any real response. On all but 2 of the height settings the blades are literally digging into dirt. Google this problem and you will find that I am not alone.
In addition, on my unit, which I have not been able to find as much about, the deck actually drops to lower settings while cutting. I am lowering the deck until it is firmly resting on the stop. It only seems to happen on the highest setting or two (but these are the only two that can be used, see above).
Bottom line, for cutting grass it is a sub par machine.
The hardest part about writing this review was whether or not to check that I would recommend it to a friend. If a friend honestly asked me, I would say if even 50% of your use is cutting grass, look elsewhere.

Who thinks of this stuff
5/5
Well, it's been a few weeks since I posted my first review. Since then I've mowed my 2 acres twice and started to move 25 tons of gravel. I wasn't able to use the 1025R to level the area for the new shed due the ground being too wet. Luckily my neighbor has access to a e3025 and even that got stuck. As for mowing, what a machine to do the task. First, removing the H120 loader couldn't be any easier. There is a slight learning curve with knowing which way to move the joystick to get the loader to do what it needs to to get it off and back on. A few more times and I should have that down. Now back to the mowing. The first cut was on Sunday, the grass was high and the yard still wet. Neither one mattered to the 1025R. I set the cruise control and went to town. Not once did the mower bog down. The second cut was done on the following Thursday. Again the grass was high, but the lawn had dried out some. Both times it only took about 2 hours from start to finish and roughly a gallon of fuel. With my previous garden tractor it used over 4 gallons of gas. The one thing I don't like is that the height selector for the deck isn't marked in inches. Instead it has high/medium/low. Further broke down to three dots in each setting. The first time I had it at the highest position due to how high and wet the grass was. The second time I moved it to the highest medium selection. That left the deck scalping the lawn to much. Now moving the gravel I first wanted to take off the mower deck. Unbelievably simple to do and re-attaching it was even easier. Being new to using a loader there is a learning curve on how to actually get the material from the pile. After a hour I finally got it down and was dumping full buckets of gravel.

Nice Tractor
5/5
I've been using this tractor and loader for a month, and its awesome! I'm very happy with the tractor in general, but I am a little dissapointed with the final setup when it was delivered.
The ROPS did not work properly, which was quite annoying given that I can't park it in my garage with the ROPS up. The top bar was clearly welded out of position. You could see easily after banging the pins out with a mallet that one of the three holes was about 1/4" out of alignment. I'm not so fond of needing to file down safety structures at 0 hours.
One of the fender lights was delivered full of water. I don't think these should take on water at all, and certainly shouldn't be delivered that way. Anyway, the bulbs are bright but hot and explode when wet.
At about 6 hours one of the loader lines started leaking badly. The hydraulic line's bolt was only hand tight.
I would also like if the seat had stiffer springs available. A good bump will bottom them out hard and adjust your spine.
Other than that, I love it. Just go over it really well before you start using it! Stiffer seat springs please!

HYD. DUST COVERS
2/5
Wrote one review, now a follow up after 10 hours of use.. Sill boils radiator over, paint is a throw back to the old 445s anything that touches it leaves marks on finish. Actually spent 5 hours getting auto connect mower to work (dealer setup??). The hyd. dust cover do not stay together when loader is being used. Have contacted John Deere and Dealer both say can't help, dealer is sending replacements but say their the same way. JD changed vendors and the new brand (fastner) just don't work, should go back to the old brand like was on the 2305 I had. I'm not new to JD having had at least 6 starting with a 425 in 2000 all the way to the 1025R. Just when I think they got it right along comes the 1025R. Sorry but that's the way I feel.

Bought this tractor in May 2013 along with a H120 loader and a 60D auto-connect deck. I have 43 hours so far and the tractor has been perfect. The loader is also perfect and easy to connect and disconnect. Been a loyal JD customer for 20 years. The dealer was unable to successfully configure the deck and I ended up doing it myself. Not easy to do even with the instructions. Finally got it right and now the deck works perfectly. Tractor is very fast, forward and reverse. Mows very well. Make sure the deck is installed correctly before accepting delivery. Mechanics need more training. Good buy. Excellent quality.

1025R is EASY to Use
5/5
The 1025R is one of the easiest tractors I have ever used. Everything you need is right there in your line of sight and within easy reach. Fantastic turning radius!! Super smooth ride, with plenty of power to get even difficult jobs done quickly. Quick attach/release tools allow a smooth transition from one job task to the next. Wonderful engineering that combines comfort and ease in this JD workhorse! I LOVE IT!
