So you’ve bought yourself a brand new John Deere Tractor, but now you’re wondering what implements you should get first. Well, today on Toolkit Radio we have you covered! On today’s episode of Toolkit Radio Sawyer and Kody rank the Top 15 John Deere Implements that you should consider purchasing for your compact utility tractor and Sawyer reveals the 5 Best Attachments you’ve never heard of.

#1 – Front Loader

A front-end loader is possibly the most versatile attachment you could ever own. With multiple bucket attachments including pallet forks and a 4-in-1 bucket, it turns your tractor into a scooping, moving and dumping machine. As John Deere states, “Without a loader, you’re only getting half the productivity available from your tractor.”

#2 – Box Blade

Equipping your tractor with a hard-working box blade opens up a whole new world of projects. Grading and leveling gravel driveways, leveling land for a new building, clearing paths, spreading dirt, terracing land, providing rear ballast for loader attachments; only scratches the surface of the box blade’s potential.

#3 – Mid-Mower Deck

Turn your 1-series compact utility tractor into a mowing powerhouse without ever leaving the driver’s seat. The auto-connect feature makes attaching as simple as driving over the deck and is designed to remain connected to the tractor with front and back end implements simultaneously.

#4 – Pallet Forks

Approach lifting materials with further precision, stack loads on pallets and strap them down for greater stability. As mentioned before, the pallet forks are another option that adds greater value and versatility to your front-end loader.

#5 – Grooming Mower/Rotary Cutter/Flail

These implements are all great options for maintaining your property, but it all comes down to which one works best for you:

  • If you’re maintaining turf grass or any other grassy area that requires a more precise cut, you should probably be using a grooming mower.
  • If you’re keeping rough areas like a road edge, back lot or pasture under control, you should probably be using a Rotary Cutter.
  • Similar to the Rotary Cutter, the Flail is a great option for heavy-duty maintenance and is best if you’re needing to shred crop residuals.

#6 – Rotary Tiller

The Rotary Tiller is useful across almost any property size and primarily used for preparing the soil for planting in the spring or fall. Aside from maintaining the garden, it’s a useful tool for breaking up any large-scale dirt areas including horse arenas or animal pins.

#7 – Spreader

A multi-seasonal implement that is perfect for laying out salt in the winter to keep the ice at bay as well as seed and fertilizer in the spring and fall. You’ll find uses for this at any time of the year and is great for anyone needing to keep a long driveway clear or keeping their lawn and garden looking fresh.

#8 – 4-in-1 Bucket & Grapple

Another up and coming attachment that only increases the value of your front end loader, the 4-in-1 is only growing in popularity. This attachment can be used as a grapple and is great for grading or scraping with greater precision and containment in the bucket.

#9 – Rear Blade/Front Blade

Both options are a manual blade that can be turned or angled. Either blade is perfect for pushing snow, dirt, or debris, and is a more economical option compared to a landplane or snowblower but will sacrifice the accuracy of those specific implements.

#10 – Sprayer

The 3-Point Hitch mounted spreader is great for fertilizing, watering, spreading weed killer, and even de-icer. Providing a wide variety of spraying widths and storage sizes, this attachment is perfect for residential lawn care, commercial landscaping, or agricultural operations.

#11 – Land Plane

A great leveling tool that’s useful on almost any surface around your property. Just some of the uses include maintaining a gravel road or driveway, smoothing a horse arena, leveling a garden, and plenty of other uses you’ll think of.

#12 – Backhoe

Extend the reach of your compact utility tractor in under 5-minutes with the rear-facing backhoe operator station. This implement is designed for powerful digging and backfilling action, providing excellent visibility to help make quick work of even the toughest trenching projects.

#13 – Snow Blower

The snowblower is perfect for anyone that regularly experiences heavy winters and needs to make quick work of snow in their driveway or street.

#14 – Posthole Digger

Save your back when putting up a fence, planting trees or any other project that requires digging. This tool is powered by the PTO of your tractor and is a fantastic alternative for landscapers or large property owners.

#15 Landscape Rake

Another specialized tool that is perfect for maintaining your property with a wide rear-facing setup. Like many of the attachments, this simplifies tasks that would regularly exhaust your back and quickly scrapes up debris, leaves and anything else you need to pile up.

With this list, we’ve barely scratched the surface of the number of implements and expanded capabilities available for your tractor. John Deere and Frontier have over 600 available implements, but based on our member’s experiences these 15 are the first you should consider purchasing. As always, be sure to check with your nearest Papé Machinery salesman to make sure you get the right implements for your projects, property, and equipment.
