Have you ever wondered how hazelnuts get to your table? It all starts with a healthy orchard and a Monchiero.
Like many fruit orchards, hazelnut trees are planted in rows. It takes about five years after they're planted for the trees to produce the coveted nuts, but they continue to produce for over 50 years.
Hazelnut trees pollinate in late winter and grow their bearded nuts throughout the spring and summer. Once autumn comes around, the nuts fall to the ground, where they're swept up by a Monchiero.
