Good Rotary Cutter
I use the MX6 with a JD 5300 (w/FEL); the perfect complement. I formerly used an MX7 which was oversized (no PTO margin) resulting in slow cutting and tractor wear. With the MX6, I can top the pasture in B/3, and have 20 hp of PTO margin. Dragging at ground level results in very nice finish cut. The archtop geometry with integrated deck stiffeners appears to be an efficient design; more stiffness with less mass. The box volume seems to have more vertical height compared to flat box cutters; I think this reduces box congestion resulting in reduced power consumption; also mulches well. I've gotten into some saplings without any shutter. I compared to others brands; for me, the MX6 was the best value.

Output shaft breaks or bends
Google John Deere MX6 problems before you buy this, a lot of these have bad gearbox's. I bent the output shaft with in 10 hours of use and John Deere wants over $2000.00 for the parts to fix it plus labor, I paid less than $2900.00 for the cutter new. It would be nice if John Deere would step up and stand behind there products.
