Are you in the market for a new lawn mower? Simply put, zero-turn mowers get the job done faster. In this edition of the Papé Machinery Agricultural & Turf blog, let’s take a close look at the premiere model of zero turn mowers from John Deere: the Z700 Series. We'll walk through the different engines available, deck sizes, the controls, and more.
Why the Z700 Series
The Z700 Series, which is part of the John Deere Residential ZTrack Zero-Turn Mowers, are John Deere’s high-end lineup of residential lawn mowers. They have exceptional build quality, and with their power and efficiency, are an excellent choice for large property owners.
5 Different Models
The Z700 Series features 5 different distinct models:
- Z720E ZTRAK™ Zero-Turn Mower, featuring a 23hp Kawasaki engine
- Z730M ZTRAK™ Zero-Turn Mower, featuring a 24hp Kawasaki engine
- Z735E ZTRAK™ Zero-Turn Mower, featuring a 25hp Briggs & Stratton engine
- Z735M ZTRAK™ Zero-Turn Mower, featuring a 25hp Briggs & Stratton engine
- Z740R ZTRAK™ Zero-Turn Mower, featuring a 23.5hp engine; while it has the lowest horsepower, this model is commercially filtrated, so you get the benefits of a built-in commercial air filtration system
All of these powerful zero-turn mowers have more power than is even needed and can get the job done efficiently and precisely.
Deck Quality
One feature, among many, that sets the Z700 apart is the deck quality. The decks come in three main sizes, 48”, 54”, and 60”. These 9-gauge stamp steel decks have reinforcement around the whole outer edge, helping operators to easily navigate hidden and unexpected obstacles in the field, providing exceptional protection.
Easy Maintenance & Controls
Maintenance is made easy on these robust machines. There are zerk fittings on top of each of the spindles. You can raise the footrest to access the center spindle and get easy access to the belt.
Operators can enjoy a simple, user-friendly control layout. You can easily gauge fuel levels. Simply look at the level on the front of the machine to see how much fuel is in the tank. The tanks hold 8 gallons of fuel, which makes it easy to give big jobs the necessary longevity and stamina.
Speed
One reason many customers select this series is for speed. With 2 hydrostatic transmissions propelling the machine, you can move anywhere from 8 mph to 10 mph, making any job very quick and efficient.
Seat Choices
The seats on the Z700 Series are incredibly comfortable. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a job well done. You’ve got a lot of seat choices, too, including:
- 21” high-back seat;
- 22.5” high-back seat with ComfortGlide, which allows you to move forward and back;
- or our most premium options, the 24” high-back seat that has a suspension dial to set to a rider’s specific weight, along with ComfortGlide
Brake Controls
One feature of the Z700 Series is integrated park brake controls. With these controls, you can pull in and out and turn on a dime. It’s a huge time saver, too; easy to operate, and quick to switch from different navigational modes.
Build Quality
With a fully boxed frame weighing under 1000 lbs, riders enjoy a very durable and robust machine. Operators can add bumpers, canopies, accessories, LED lighting packages, and more. The Z700 Series ticks every box when it comes to selecting a zero-turn mower.
