The John Deere Easy Change 30-second oil change system makes changing the engine oil easy, quick, and clean. Changing the oil is as easy as removing the old oil-filled filter and twisting on a new oil-filled filter. Oil does not need to be drained from the engine. The removed filter contains the captured contaminants and a portion of the engine oil. Easy Change is standard equipment on the E120, E130, E150, E160, E170, and E180.

  • John Deere Easy Change™ 30-second oil change system
John Deere Easy Change 30-second oil change systemJohn Deere Easy Change 30-second oil change system

The John Deere Easy Change 30-second oil change system makes changing the engine oil easy, quick, and clean. Changing the oil is as easy as twisting on a new oil-filled filter. Oil does not need to be drained from the engine.

The John Deere Easy Change filter is an additional engine oil reservoir. Changing the filter removes the captured contaminants and replaces about 0.8 qt (0.76 L) of the engine oil.

The functionality does not stop with ease of use. The Easy Change oil system has several meaningful benefits over the traditional oil filter system of the 100 Series:

    • Uses a synthetic filter material
    • Has more filtering capacity
    • Has more filter surface area
    • Has more oil flow capacity
    • Has 40 percent more oil volume
    • Engine system runs 22°F (12.2°C) cooler
    • Risk of spilling during oil service is greatly reduced
    • Waste oil per service interval is reduced by 60 percent (approximately 21 tanker-truck loads of waste oil each year) and the need for new oil production is reduced by the same amount

Partly due to these improvements, it is not necessary to remove and dispose of all the oil in the engine during service.

Everyone who uses the John Deere Easy Change system saves time and avoids the mess of a traditional oil change. In the past, many 100 Series Lawn Tractor owners rarely or never got around to changing their engine oil. With John Deere Easy Change, even owners who previously would not consider changing the oil themselves can easily do it now. The Easy Change 30-second oil change system is a no-mess, no-fuss solution the competition cannot match.

Installation instructions are in the Operator’s Manual and in the John Deere Easy Change service part box.

Please recycle. Many local government recycling programs, authorized retailers, auto-service centers, and auto-parts stores will puncture and recycle used oil filters and oil.

Poor cut!

1/5

I just bought this today 5-31-18 and I was excited to mow my yard because it needed it, however the cut left strips in between the blades like the blades were 3 years old. You can’t return to the Home Depot so now I get to try an alternate set of blades at my expense to see if by chance I have defective blades. Very disappointed

Purchased new E180 , I had such a great expperience with my LA175 with 948 hours

5/5

My LA175 with 948 hours on in and still running strong with proper care and maintenance sold me on the 100 series. I was looking to add another tractor and the E180 had some refinements for 2018 I liked, this is considered a value line of John Deere but I feel with proper care , cleaning and maintenance these machines are excellent and you have the dealer backed parts, knowledge and support you will not find with another brand. The hydrostatic K46 transmissions get a bad reputation, but if used and driven properly without jerking forward and reverse and mowing at a reasonable speed, keeping fan blades clear of debris for proper cooling is key, many complaints are due to misuse and abuse, these are tractors and are not Zero turns, they are not meant to mow at full speed. I am very confident in the 100 series and really like the continued small improvements Deere has made continuing to make the 100 series a great tractor for me, make sure you pair the right size tractor for the job, I mow 4 Acres mixed terrain grass, pull trailers and have a now blade, These are not field mowers as you see a lot of people try to use them for resulting in reducing the life of your tractor, use your common sense and care for your product and you will get many years of trouble free service, I have had Husqvarna , Craftsman tractors and went back to Deere due to product knowledge and part availability and customer service, Thank you Greenmark Equipment in Indiana! , Brett in North Liberty.

Fuel tank issues

4/5

The e180 is a comfortable and easy to operate machine. It cuts very well and can get over a lot of ground quickly. I’m very happy with my mower but I will be taking it into the dealership for some warranty work. My fuel gauge hasn’t worked correct since day one. When the tank is full it reads a half tank. Also it takes more time than it should to fill it with gas. Despite this minor issue I still recommend the e180
