Bad Vibration

4/5

I purchased this mower last year. I worked out of town so my wife used it last year and didn't get to use it until this spring. It vibrates without any attachments engaged so bad the the hood is wearing on the metal so much that it leaves fiberglass dust were it rubs. I took it to the local dealer with my concerns and was told this is normal vibration. I showed him that at low speed/idle the vibration got worse and he told me that the engine was balanced at high speed and not to be concerned with the low speed vibration. What??? I then showed him that it looked like the pull/shaft connected to the crank shaft looked bent and he again said this was normal. What??? He then got another so-called mechanic to look at it and said it was operating normally. I've been a mechanic for over 40 years and never had a V-Twin engine vibrate anywhere near this amount. Very dissatisfied with local dealer and will find one where they know what they are doing.

Not as well made as older JD Mowers

3/5

Does not cut as well as a JD mower that I had used for 15+ years. Seems to consume more fuel than older mower. Mower was prepped by Brookside JD in Spring. Rode very rough (had 25-27# of air all around (10 psi rear / 15 front recommended). One of the sheave pulleys appears to be bent. Excessive vibration when mower is first engaged. smoother as it runs. Missing parts - need to have the dealer come out and do a better inspection.

The New E140 Purchased from Lowe's Did Not Start

3/5

I was excited with the newly purchased E140 (on 5/26/2018) from LOWE’s but was appalled when I tried to start it. IT DID NOT SATRT, DID NOT HAVE ANY BATTERY POWER as evidenced by no head lightings! I called LOWE's and was told to contact the local John Deere professional as the tractor was tested before its leave of the store. I cannot find any information of the claimed test in the information package. I called the local professional on 5/27/2018 around 10 AM but reached an answering system. I left a message as instructed. I sincerely hope that I would be lucky enough to get a call from that local dealer soon. At present, I cannot assess the performance of this E140 tractor as it has not been able to start or do any work. Upon resolution of the problem, I will update my Overall Rating and add assessments of other items listed above.

Great lawn mower

4/5

I have 40+ hours now on this lawn mower and it runs smooth with no issues. Sometimes I run it for two hours to mow the whole property, which takes a bit less than a tank of gas. One time, the belt popped off when my wife hit a stump real bad, but it took only 15mins to put it back on after I found out how this is done. Like a previous reviewer, I also had a dead (discharged) battery when I got it. After I recharged it, there was no further issue. I also use it to pull a little cart that came with it with quite heavy loads, no problem. However, pulling around trees or stuff, forget about that. The deck height can be adjusted from 1 to 4 inches in quarters. I wonder what the point of that is. You can't really go deeper than 3.0 or you start digging up the ground. 3.25 is good for the lawn which is quite level. 3.5 or higher I use for some rough areas and ditches.
