John Deere Easy Change 30-second oil change systemJohn Deere Easy Change 30-second oil change system

The John Deere Easy Change 30-second oil change system makes changing the engine oil easy, quick, and clean. Changing the oil is as easy as twisting on a new oil-filled filter. Oil does not need to be drained from the engine.

The John Deere Easy Change filter is an additional engine oil reservoir. Changing the filter removes the captured contaminants and replaces about 0.8 qt (0.76 L) of the engine oil.

The functionality does not stop with ease of use. The Easy Change oil system has several meaningful benefits over the traditional oil filter system of the 100 Series:

    • Uses a synthetic filter material
    • Has more filtering capacity
    • Has more filter surface area
    • Has more oil flow capacity
    • Has 40 percent more oil volume
    • Engine system runs 22°F (12.2°C) cooler
    • Risk of spilling during oil service is greatly reduced
    • Waste oil per service interval is reduced by 60 percent (approximately 21 tanker-truck loads of waste oil each year) and the need for new oil production is reduced by the same amount

Partly due to these improvements, it is not necessary to remove and dispose of all the oil in the engine during service.

Everyone who uses the John Deere Easy Change system saves time and avoids the mess of a traditional oil change. In the past, many 100 Series Lawn Tractor owners rarely or never got around to changing their engine oil. With John Deere Easy Change, even owners who previously would not consider changing the oil themselves can easily do it now. The Easy Change 30-second oil change system is a no-mess, no-fuss solution the competition cannot match.

Installation instructions are in the Operator’s Manual and in the John Deere Easy Change service part box.

Please recycle. Many local government recycling programs, authorized retailers, auto-service centers, and auto-parts stores will puncture and recycle used oil filters and oil.

Undecided

3/5

Mows well in yard grass. Did not handle tall pasture grass that grew while we looked for a new mower after the old one died (after 25 years). Our old Garden Tractor would have, but I would have been able to do it with a deck that I could lift above the normal 4 inch highest mowing position for the first cut, then do it again at mower level. I wish this mower had that ability. It is almost impossible for an old lady, me, to push the brake/clutch in adequately in order to start it. In another 5 years it will probably be impossible for me to do. It seems like it is all the way in, does not move any farther, but only after pressing even harder will the mower start. As for "expertise," I've been operating farm equipment all of my life, and riding mowers for the last 30 years. I know you have to really press on the clutch to start, but this is ridiculous. I can't stand on it because you have to keep sitting on the seat. We got this because we are too old to push a mower over 2 acres and need something old people can handle. FYI I'm 75 and plan to mow my own lawn for a long time to come. There should be some way around this. There's something else that is inconvenient. The mower dies if you get off the seat to remove an obstacle, even if the blade is not running. Then you have to go through the whole starting exercise all over again. Safety features have gone a bit overboard.

The lawn mower is a good buy for the money.

4/5

Had the mower for the third season now and mower has exceeded my expectations----except for one major problem! The manual says to install the blades with the sharp edge pointed down, so you can see the sharp edge from the bottom of deck! This is so INCORRECT! You'll be cutting on the back side of the blade!! Sharp side up!, I found out the hard way! I was so upset with the mower. My father-in- law bought one--SAME THING- blades upside down! Has this error been corrected yet?? Hope so.

Keys... Yes, you do get TWO keys with this mower.

5/5

I saw a comment that said you only get one key with the mower. I asked a dealer when I was there about this and he showed me a mower getting ready to be delivered and it had one key in it and a spare key packaged in the owners manual that was attached behind the seat. The dealer also said additional keys are available if needed.

Best mower for the money

5/5

We have owned several mowers over the years and our most recent purchase was by far the best. We chose the E130 for the powerful 22HP engine, we have a huge yard with several trees and a pretty steep hill, this mower handles like a zero turn and goes right up the hill with ease. We strongly recommend this mower!!
