The 5085E is a GREAT value!!!!
This is my first John Deere after many Kubota purchases. I have already seen the quality and value of 5085 far surpass the tractors I have owned in the past. The operators station is very user friendly and speeds up output. The engine is super quiet and has plenty of power, but the most impressive feature is the hydraulic speeds. The 5085E pumps out way more speed than any Kubota I have ever used. I would highly recommend this tractor to anyone looking for a good utility tractor.

Bad quality
Bought a new one 3 weeks ago and it is going back to the dealer due to poor quality issues with the exhaust system. Dealer has been trying but they can only do so much. I have been able to get 3.5 hours on it since it usaully won't run.

Great for overall work, good with salt water.
We have had this machine for a little over a year now. Its used mostly to pull the surf rake on our ocean beaches. Plenty of power and drives like a car. Also used in the winter for snow removal. New LED gages are a plus as well.

disappointed in lack of utility for my use
Purchased the 2017 5085E new and traded in a 20 years old similar 4 wheel drive open station tractor. My use does not require a lot of hours. Used to mainly maintain gravel roads, scrape snow, etc. on steep mountain terrain. I failed to buy the right tractor for my job.......ASSUMING... features were standard features which in fact do not even exist. Got the tractor home and put it to work having viewed and tested several on the dealer lots which clearly have a pedal showing for lock differential. Put it to work on steep grades to find lock differential not a feature on this model or available and the lock it has automatic kicks out so it has no manual diff. lock. So full horsepower cannot be exploited at all with both rear wheels. It kicks out automatic. very disappointed that I missed this detail before buying. I feel deceived...........no place to turn with a tractor not as good for my use as my old 20 years old model now gone on trade in. DISCOURAGED AT MY OWN MISS ON THIS ONE AND WHAT A MESS THIS SALE IS.

Nice tractor
This is a good tractor value for the money. It has what you need in a utility tractor. Its a basic get the job done in reasonable comfort machine. It has enough options and amenities to be comfortable without breaking your budget. The only problem I see is it needs a little heavier drawbar from the factory. I have some pretty hilly and rough pastures that put a lot of stress and strain on the drawbar when pulling my 15' rotary cutter that I felt uncomfortable with using the standard drawbar so I had to pony up for the heavy duty one so that I didn't have to worry about it. The tractor responds quickly to a load and has plenty of power. Maintenance is quick and easy. I have the 553 loader and it is perfect for loader work. I have spread about 14 tons of rock around my cattle waterers and with a full bucket it went up and down the hills with good stability. Overall I am very pleased with the tractor.
